School Infrastructure Coordinator (Engineer)

Job Location: based in West Field Office(Dhangadi) with frequent travel to Doti

Key Responsibilities: 
The School Infrastructure Coordinator (Engineer) will facilitate, guide, monitor, support and assess the infrastructure rehabilitation/retrofit works in schools under the scope of Community and School Disaster Preparedness and Resilience in Doti (CSDPR). S/He will also support DRR coordinator for assisting schools to develop and implement School disaster risk management plan and local disaster risks management plans. In due course, s/he will work closely with respective partners and WV district staffs under the guidance of Project Manager. 
  • The School Infrastructure Coordinator will implement the plans and activities related to school infrastructure rehabilitation/retrofit works
  • Assist DRR coordinator, schools and communities to develop and implement disaster risks management plans under the scope of CSDPR Project
  • S/He will work closely with the relevant external, internal and community partners
  • Guide and support Implementing partners in planning and day to day activities implementation
  • Technical support, monitoring and management to ensure quality school infrastructures rehabilitation and retrofit works
  • Ensure the quality of work by using the technical tracking system and focus on achieving results
  • Facilitate communities and schools’ management on safety measures and retrofitting techniques
  • Assist in Project implementation in terms of impact, reporting, and timeliness
  • Provide regular updates to WV team on the field progress and also the issues, if any
Minimum Qualifications and Experience required: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering related with 4 years’ experience (Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred)
  • Experience in managing implementation of projects in education especially having safe school components including infrastructures
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community/public infrastructure works
  • Experience of working in remote district of Nepal
  • Must have knowledge and skills of construction project implementation
  • Technical Knowledge to do construction activities field survey, design, drawing & estimation
  • Technical Knowledge to do and check vulnerability assessment of structures
  • Through Understanding of rehabilitation and retrofitting works
  • Ability to ensure specification of construction materials & also ensuring the quality of construction works
  • Strong analytical problem solving and organizational techniques
  • Work under pressure and can take additional responsibilities
  • 50% field visit in the field sites is expected - Ability to drive motorbike with valid driving license
  • Must have excellent computer literacy & skill of MS office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Practical knowledge of project budgeting, accounting & reporting
  • Able to articulate and communicate ideas well verbally and in writing
  • Understanding of World Vision Financial System & procedures
  • Demonstrated Mentoring, Orientation & Training Skill
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving & time management skills
  • Willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines and to travel
  • This role requires high degree coordination with other departments and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written English & Nepali
  • Ready to take initiatives and willing to work under pressure and exhibit a high level of flexibility
  • Hold a high level of integrity and honesty, self-motivated, confident, and able to work independently
  • Strategic, creative, collaborative and innovative thinking with decision making and problem solvingskills
