    The main goal / objective is to support UNICEF in the implementation of Prefab projects activities, in ten districts all around Kathmandu valley.  The Field Engineer will supervise all the field activities, providing proper instructions to the awarded companies for the construction of health facilities and solar systems, in close cooperation with the Engineer Coordinator and the Construction Specialist in Kathmandu. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that the project produces the required products within specified tolerances of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits, and for the project to produce the results required to achieve the benefits as defined.
    He/She must coordinate all aspects of the project related to its’ implementation stages, identifies implementation and financial problems and assists in resolving them, by taking appropriate action, drafting required correspondence to parties concerned and preparing reports.

    Deliverables
    First Deliverable by May 2018
    Between 1 to 3 prefab substantial completions accomplished, (by end of May 2018)
    Between 2 to 4 Supervision and control of rectifications, during prefab DLP.
    At least 5 site control, during the construction of solar systems.

    Second Deliverable by June 2018
    Between 1 to 3 prefab substantial completions accomplished, (by end of May 2018)
    Between 2 to 4 Supervision and control of rectifications, during prefab DLP.
    At least 5 site control, during the construction of solar systems.

    Third Deliverable by July 2018
    Between 2 to 4 Supervision and control of rectifications, during prefab DLP.

    Fourth Deliverable by August 2018

    Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture or other relevant technical area with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar assignment; knowledge of construction materials, construction methods, and the appropriate tools to construct structures and buildings; knowledge of structural engineering in the design of reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry as applied to construction of buildings and structures; proven ability to identify potential problems and recommend appropriate solutions manner; strong links in humanitarian community and institutional partners; excellent writing and presentation skills; familiarity with building regulations in Nepal, ability to work productively in a multi-cultural environment; good health and willingness to travel and live in locations with difficult conditions.
    Specific past experience in prefab building solutions would be very important.
    Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset.
    In addition, the incumbents should:
    • Excellent knowledge of both written and oral English and Nepali languages is required.
    • Very strong interest in working in the field and/or in remote areas and adaptability to cope with basic living and working conditions.
    • Have a strong capacity to use logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches.
    • Work well in a team with minimal instruction.
    • Have good initiative and ability to apply technical knowledge creatively to ensure conflicts and disputes are resolved among contractors, Government authorities and final beneficiaries.
    • Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology, with particular reference to prefab building solutions, in the field.
    • Consolidated experience in building materials delivery on-site, in remote districts of Nepal.
    • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
